Daily Life in the Medieval Times

Most families in the medieval times lived in small houses. A lot of the houses only had one room for the entire family. People back then were not expected to live very long. The rate was 35-40 years of age. That is a short life, we live until our 80's sometimes even past 100 years of age. Women back then had mostly died from child birth. Now on to Education in Medieval times.

The Education wasn't the best in the medieval times. Most children did not even get a good Education. The wealthy were the only ones who could afford to get a good Education. Girls learned to clean, and cook. Also they learned some other stuff but those are the main things. Boys would help to hunt with their dads and work with their dads in the fields. But most wealthy children would train and train to become a knight. In the 14th century the life expectancy dropped 20 years.

This is a picture of a school to represent medieval education.
Even though schools back then probably did not look this nice.

What was life like during the Hundred Years' War?

Life during the Hundred Years' War was not the best because a lot of people wanted to be the king of France. But the two main countries that fought over France were the French and English. During the war many English and French knight were killed. In the a battle during the Hundred Years' War the French had led the attack on the English and the wooded sticks in the ground had protected the English. More French soldiers were killed than English soldiers. How does this happen when the French lead the attack on  the English???? The English soldiers must have been well prepared. But back to life during the war.

Most people were scared to go outside because they did not want to get involved in the war. They were afraid that they would lose their land. A lot of people actually did lose their land during the Hundred Years' War. I can see why people would be scared to go outside. I would be scared to go outside to if I was about to lose my home and land to the soldiers. But the war finally ended in the 14th century and then their was peace between the two countries.

This picture might be  what some of the land looked
like during the 14th century. But not farm land, land around a castle.

How did the Hundred Years' War start?

The Hundred Years' war started when the English and French both wanted to own France. But only one could be the ruler of France so they fought over it. Which started the longest war in history so far. Edward the III was the English ruler and decided that he wanted to be the king of France so he started the war between the French and English. Why would he do that he already owned England!?! But he wanted to be a greedy person and not be thankful for what he already owned!!!

After the war a lot of things had happened. A lot of good and bad things. Like after the war a lot of the English were crippled. Also a good thing is the French became unified. None of the bad things would have happened if the war didn't even start so they both knew something bad would happen!!! But they both got some of the land in France.

Who won the Hundred Years' War?

In 1360 the English owned more of France than the French did. he French owned the borders of
France and the English owned a lot of the middle. But farther in time the English started to lose more and more of their land in France. There was actually no winner to the Hundred Years' War. The two countries made peace.

There was a treaty in the 14th century to end the Hundred Years' War between the English and French. I thought the war would never end! But it did the Treaty of Arras was made after the French won the battle of Bordeaux. The war ended in the middle of the 14th century. It ended in 1453 to be exact. The war between the two countries must have meant that they did not like each other because of how long the war had actually lasted. WOW!
This is a treaty sort of like the treaty of Arras.
But the treaty of Arras was between the English and French.

When did the Hundred Years' War end?

The Hundred Years' War ended in 1453. WOW! The French had won a big battle against the English. The French captured Bordeaux and that war had ended the Hundred Years' War. Finally!!?! The Hundred Years' War ended when a treaty was made between the French and the English. The treaty was called the Treaty of Arras. In the Hundred Years' War there were under 20 battles that would change the war in a big way. What!?! No wonder the battle lasted for over 100 years, there was no battle to end the war until the battle of Bordeaux.

The biggest war out of the 20 major battles is the battle of Bordeaux because it had finally put an end to the Hundred Years' War. I would think that the people would be happy because they would get some of the land back, hopefully! The English wanted to do battle on land because they were a lot stronger on foot then on ships because of their strong bodies.

Who won the first war changing battle?

The first battle that changed the war was the battle of Crecy. Crecy is a city in the northern part of France. Crecy is in the top right corner of France where the water separates England and France. The English won the first battle that actually changed the war and it was the battle of Crecy. The Battle of Crecy that the English won, a the leaders of the English were Edward the III and his son The Black Prince. The Hundred Years' War was the longest battle and biggest Conflict in history so far!!! I WONDER HOW PEOPLE CAN FIGHT FOR A LITTLE OVER 100 YEARS'!?!! The battle was taken place all over France. The English and France won an equal amount of wars during the hundred years.

I feel bad for the people that had lost their land during the war because most of them probably never go the land back. Their was no certain spot during the war which means a lot of people in different areas of France had lost their land. The win of this war was big for the  English because they gained more land for their country. The French were trying to protect the rest of their land after this attack.

had defeated the French to win the battle of Crecy. Which was
a big battle during the Hundred Years' War.
