How did the Hundred Years' War start?

The Hundred Years' war started when the English and French both wanted to own France. But only one could be the ruler of France so they fought over it. Which started the longest war in history so far. Edward the III was the English ruler and decided that he wanted to be the king of France so he started the war between the French and English. Why would he do that he already owned England!?! But he wanted to be a greedy person and not be thankful for what he already owned!!!

After the war a lot of things had happened. A lot of good and bad things. Like after the war a lot of the English were crippled. Also a good thing is the French became unified. None of the bad things would have happened if the war didn't even start so they both knew something bad would happen!!! But they both got some of the land in France.

This is a picture of Edward iii of England.
